Manic May: Our First Event of the Season & John's Return to the Podium

May is here and we kicked off our season with a bang! We'll be sharing all the details from our first event of the year at the British Superbikes, Oulton Park. We'll also be showing you a sneak peak from our speedy photoshoot with the riders & of course, we can't not talk about John McGuinness' return to the podium.

First event: Round 2 at Oulton Park

What a fantastic kickoff to our events season over the scorching May bank holiday weekend at the stunning Oulton Park in Little Budworth, Cheshire! Kenny & Helen had an amazing time attending the second round of British Superbikes, and it was a resounding success. After last year's slower end to the season, we approached this event with some apprehension. However, your enthusiastic engagement—chatting with us and purchasing our clothing—means the absolute world to us. Thank you for making it such a rewarding experience!

A Photoshoot with Lee, John & Dean

As Oulton Park was over the holiday weekend, we decided to leave Glasgow a day early to shoot Lee, John, and Dean in their new '24 merchandise. Our first stop was Huddersfield early in the morning to meet with Lee, who had afternoon commitments. It was great to see him, although he still had the leg cage at that point. At Lee's request, we avoided including his leg in any of our shots. Despite everything he's been through recently, he was in his usual cheeky form.

Since our visit, it has been announced that Lee will not be competing in this year's Isle of Man TT Races but will be a talented addition to the commentary team.

Next, we headed over to Oulton to catch up with Dean and John after their afternoon practice session. The Honda team very kindly permitted us into the garage on the pit lane to shoot with Dean. He was his usual chatty self, expressing his enthusiasm to return to racing, particularly on the roads.

During this shoot, John joined us, giving us the opportunity to capture some impressive shots of him on the track. After all, he's a legend!

North West 200: John McGuinness returns to the podium

McGuinness held fourth place for a significant portion of the race but moved up to third place towards the end when Dean Harrison had to retire. In the final stages of the race, McGuinness engaged in a thrilling battle with James Hillier. McGuinness gained the upper hand, securing him his first North West 200 podium in 12 years. This all happened on his 30th anniversary of attending this iconic Irish Race.

John's third-place finish at the NW200 was particularly meaningful, considering it had been since 2012 since he last stood on the podium at this event. This achievement was undoubtedly a special moment not only for John but also for the entire McGuinness family.

RT Hits the Road: Donington & IOMTT still to come

There's no rest for the wicked as RT hits the road for the remainder of the month. We have just returned from Donington for another round of British Superbikes. This was our first visit to Donington, and we're wondering why we hadn't come sooner. It was fantastic! We discovered that a significant number of our customers are from that part of the UK, and it was exciting to see so many people wearing Red Torpedo garments throughout the event.

Now, our attention shifts to the iconic, intense, and thrilling Isle of Man TT—our favourite event on the calendar. We'll be sailing over on Friday, May 24th, and will be stationed behind the Grandstand until June 8th.
